City Council Takes Care Of Business


The Wolf Point City Council held its regular meeting Jan. 21. Council members Lance Fourstar and Carrie Manning were absent.
Anne Miller with Montana Disaster and Emergency Services spoke to the council about services offered by the organization and unpacked details about regulations, guidelines, points of contact and opportunities for training.
A GNDC representative provided a monthly report, including tours of the new homes on the south side of town. Draw requests related to invoices for Bridges Construction and other contractors were also discussed.
During public comment, questions were raised by a local landowner about rezoning efforts. Mayor Chris Dschaak said a meeting with the relevant council committee would be scheduled in coming weeks.
Attorney Montana Wilson discussed open criminal cases, including four new cases, four arraignments and hearing for bail.
Lot cleanup efforts by the city and Roosevelt County were discussed.
The public works report was delivered. Bids on surplus equipment sales were approved, excepting one bid for an Elgin street sweeper. Dennie Reum was approved for hire as a mechanic/maintenance worker effective Jan. 16.
The council discussed the possible outsourcing of the building permit system to the State of Montana.
The Cape Air hanger lease agreement was approved for signing by Mayor Dschaak.
The purchase of a used dump truck was approved up to $75,000, with authorization from the committee.
Revenue and expense reports were approved for the month, as was the treasurer’s report. Meeting minutes were approved for the Oct. 21, Nov. 16 and Nov. 18.
The next regular council meeting is set for Feb. 18.
