Robertson Obtains Success In Froid

Froid High School senior Joseph Robertson has been a standout in sports and also involved in other activities during his high school career.

He has competed in football, basketball and track for the Red Hawks throughout his four years.

Robertson said football is his favorite sport since he started for the team that played in a state championship game.

“A lot of memories and team work,” Robertson said of football.

Highlights for basketball included qualifying for the divisional tournament last year. The Red Hawks placed fourth at the tournament. He enjoyed staying with friends in Glasgow.

During track season, Robertson qualified for the state meet in the 400-meter relay as a junior and the 1600-meter relay as a sophomore. He especially enjoyed running the 1600-meter relay. “There’s a lot of teams competing. It’s an electric vibe,” he said.

He expects to compete in the 1600, 800 and the 1600-meter relay this upcoming track season. “I want to make it to state in the mile again,” Robertson said.

He is a member of the school’s Business Professionals of America program. He feels the program is an excellent learning opportunity. Currently, he is working with other students in the global marketing team category.

Another highlight of his high school career was traveling to New York and Washington, D.C., as a member of the Explore America group.

Hobbies outside of school include hunting with his father. The student won a buffalo draw and had the opportunity to shoot a buffalo at the ranch north of Wolf Point.

Robertson’s favorite class is government. “There’s a lot of real world stuff that’s interesting to learn,” he said.

His favorite teacher is Michael Reiter, who also serves as the football coach.

Robertson has attended school in Froid from the start. “I love that it’s small and you know everybody,” Robertson said of Froid. “There’s never a boring day. Everybody is friends here.”

His future plans is to attend Montana State University in Bozeman. He is leaning toward studying civic engineering.
