Culbertson Falls Short In Fairview
Fairview held off Culbertson, 43-39, in non-conference boys’ basketball play in Fairview on Tuesday, Feb. 4 The Warriors gained a 3129 advantage during the first three quarters of action, but a tip-in by Gavin Deen and a fast-break drive by Brooks Solem put the Cowboys up 33-32 with 5:29 remaining.
Fairview went back ahead on a basket by Troy Karst and three-pointer by Tyler Loan. After three free tosses by Solem cut the gap to 3736 with 1:15 left, the Warriors accounted for the next six points including three free throws by Loan.
Solem hit a three-pointer to close the margin to 43-39 with only six seconds remaining.
In the girls’ game, Fairview scored a 40-29 victory.
After leading only 10-9 at the end of the first quarter, the Warriors moved out to a 19-14 half-time advantage.
Fairview scored 16 points in the third quarter to increase the gap to 35-22.
