Froid/Lake’s girls’ basketball team pulled out a 38-35 league victory over Brockton at home on Friday, Feb. 7.

The game was even at 2525 after three quarters of play, but Brockton struck for the first four points of the fourth period on baskets by Tamryn Bauer and Claire Clampitt.

The Red Hawks responded with baskets by Mara Salvevold and Avery Johnson to pull even at 29-29.

Brockton moved back ahead when Quintana Young scored on a drive with under three minutes to play.

Froid/Lake’s Addison Elvsaas fired in a three-pointer to put the Red Hawks ahead 34-33 with 1:48 remaining. The margin increased to 36-33 on two free throws by Brooklyn Nordwick with 50 seconds left.

The Warriors came as close as 36-35, but Froid/ Lake added free throws by Isabelle Nordwick and Johnson. With four seconds left, B. Nordwick intercepted an inbounds pass to put the contest away.

Top scorers for the Red Hawks were B. Nordwick with 12 and Salvevold with 11 points. Scoring six points each were Elvsaas and Johnson. Jordyn Breuer had two and I. Nordwick had one point.

Bauer finished with 12 points for the Warriors. Marlene Fish added six points.

In the boys’ game, Brockton pulled away for a 59-36 victory.

The Warriors led by only a 22-21 half-time margin, but Brockton outscored Froid/ Lake by a 19-2 margin in the third quarter for a 41-23 advantage.

Brockton’s top scorers were Colter Nygard with 19, Josh Firemoon with 14 and Jarid Fasthorse Jr. with 10 points.

Also scoring were Miles Boxer Jr. with eight, Kameron Rattling Thunder with four and Ronnie Blackdog with four.

Rylan Young scored 16 points for the Red Hawks.

Rounding out the scoring were Roberto Orozco with five, Carson Kelm with four, Cody Olson with three, Eduardo Orozco with two, Joseph Robertson with two and Teagan Fossum with one.
