Gymnasts Compete In Rapid City, Helena
Eastern Montana gymnastics attended their third and fourth meets of the 20242025 season in Rapid City, S.D., and Helena.
In Rapid City, on Jan. 1112, EMG had two all-around winners, with Ila Lehner and Kendra Linder winning first place in the gold level for their age groups. Eight girls won event championships in their age groups as well, with Linder and Aubrey Ziegler (gold) placing first on vault, Ila winning uneven bars, Linder, Mallory Meissner (gold) and Serenity O’Dea (silver) were crowned balance beam champions, and River Darby (bronze) and Lehner won floor.
EMG’s Gold team were champions, out of all 10 teams.
Out of all 76 gold gymnasts, Linder had the highest vault score and second highest balance beam score, Ziegler had the second highest all-around score and in bronze, R. Darby had the highest floor score, out of all 72 gymnasts.
With some of the toughest competition EMG will see all year, the Helena meet on Jan. 25-26, brought EMG some success. Linder and R. Darby achieved high scores on all four events to secure age group all-around wins. In event placings, Darby won or tied for first in all four events except floor. Linder also had a strong showing, placing first on vault and balance beam in her age group. Lehner also had two age group event wins, taking home gold medals on uneven bars and balance beam. Peyton Cool (gold) also won balance beam in her age group.
Out of all 92 gold gymnasts, Linder had the highest all-around score, was tied for first place on balance beam and was second on vault. Ila had the highest uneven bars score out of all gymnasts in gold, and Cool was tied for first place on balance beam as well. Out of 59 bronze gymnasts, Darby was second all-around, tied for first on vault and tied for second on uneven bars.
