School Trustee Spots Up For Election In County

Election day for area school districts is May 6 with a filing deadline of March 27 for candidates.

The board position currently held by Ian Walker is due for election in Culbertson.

The office held by vice chair Chris Hansen is up for election in Bainville.

Positions up for election in Froid are currently held by vice chair Ryan Young and Troy Sundheim.

In Brockton, the positions currently held by trustees Sammy Nygard and Rae Jean Belgarde are up for election.

Four current members of the Wolf Point School Board are due to have their positions up for re-election this May.

The terms are expiring for board chair Roxanne Gourneau in district 2 and trustee Sarah Copenhaver as an at-large trustee. Both terms are for three years.

The positions currently held by Robert Manning in District 1 and Michael Holen in District 4 are also up for election. Each of these terms are for one year.

Manning was approved as a trustee during a meeting in November 2024. Manning replaced Keith Higgins in District 1 after Higgins resigned after moving outside of that district.

Holen was appointed at a board meeting in July 2024. Holen filed for the District 4 position after Cody Larson resigned to accept a teaching position in Wolf Point.

Trustees due for re-election in Poplar are current chair LaRae Crowley and current vice chair Kenny Smoker Jr.
