Trent Williams has been involved in a wide variety of activities during his high school time in Froid.
His interests have included Business Professionals of America, FFA and band.
As a junior, Williams placed 11th in word processing during the BPA state conference.
He says his favorite FFA competition is mechanics.
“It’s fairly easy for me,” Williams said. “I am able to understand it fairly easily.”
As far as band, Williams has been playing the trumpet since the fifth grade.
Williams has participated in the school’s football, basketball and golf programs during his career. He picks football as his favorite sport.
“It’s fun playing football with my teammates,” Williams said. “Whether we win or lose, I always have a good time.”
A highlight was being on the state championship team as a freshman. He remembers Javonne Nesbit making an outstanding one-handed catch for a touchdown in the state title game. “I was hyping everybody up about it,” Williams said.
Golf has been a sport where Williams continues to improve for the Red Hawks. He shot rounds in the 150s as a freshman and decreased his score to in the 90s as a junior. Qualifying for the state tournament is a goal for the upcoming season.
“There was a couple times I was pretty much there, if I’ve done a little better on a few holes,” Williams said.
Hobbies outside of school for Williams include wood projects and riding dirt bikes and motorcycles.
At school, his favorite class is industrial arts. His favorite teacher is Michael Reiter, since he was Williams’ history teacher, health teacher and football coach.
Williams, who has been a student in Froid since kindergarten, said he likes how everybody knows each other in Froid.
After high school, Williams plans to attend Williston State College and study welding.
