Stanton Charged With Vehicular Homicide

According to the Williston Herald, Maverick Stanton of Williston, N.D., has been charged with criminal vehicular homicide regarding the Feb. 1 death of Poplar’s Paul Vernon FourBear.

Stanton’s criminal history includes past DUI convictions in North Dakota and Wyoming.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 12.

The Williams County, N.D., Sheriff’s Office reported that FourBear was traveling westbound on his 2020 off-road motorcycle on Second Street W, approaching the intersection of Second Avenue W. An eastbound 2004 Ram 1500 was making a turn onto Second Avenue W. The driver of the Ram, Stanton, failed to yield to the motorcycle.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that Stanton, 46, was placed under arrest for DUI and he refused a chemical breath test.

FourBear died at Trinity Hospital in Minot, N.D., on Feb. 1.
