Culbertson Sweeps Games Against Thunder


Culbertson’s girls’ basketball earned its first victory of the season when the Cowgirls knocked off MonDak, 3328, on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Ahead by a slim 17-16 halftime margin, the Cowgirls held MonDak scoreless in the third quarter for a 27-16 advantage.
Emma Berwick scored 15 points to lead the Cowgirls.
Payton Labatte finished with six points. Leandra Perkins and Mariana Burciaga had five points each.
Evelynn Lowes scored eight points for the Thunder.
The Cowboys rolled to a 72-39 victory over MonDak.
Culbertson scored 19 points in the second period for a 32-19 lead. The Cowboys struck for 21 more points in the third quarter for a 53-31 advantage.
Leading Culbertson’s attack were Mark Kirkaldie with 22, Plenny Williams with 21 and Bridger Salvevold with 15 points.
Rounding out the scoring were Gavin Deen with five, Dawson Bergum with four, Cal Steppler with three and Aden Drake with three.
The district tournament starts Wednesday, Feb. 19, in Sidney.
