Froid’s Nordwick Sees Success In Sports, BPA

Senior Profile
Froid High School senior Brooklyn Nordwick has excelled as a three-sports athlete and a Business Professionals of America member during her career.
Her extra-curricular activities have included basketball, volleyball and track.
Nordwick says her favorite sports is basketball. She earned All-Conference honors in District 2C last season. “I think it takes longer to develop the skills in basketball,” the National Honor Society member said. “And I’m better in that sport.”
During an interview last week, she said she’s excited about the District 2C tournament on Feb. 19-22. “I think we’re getting better each game.”
Although she has achieved second team All-Conference honors in volleyball, she feels she has a “love, hate” relationship with that sport.
“I like diving,” Nordwick said about volleyball. “I like the excitement of when you get a good hit. The momentum changes quickly in volleyball.”
Playing on the same teams as her younger sister, Isabelle, also has its good and not so good qualities.
“It’s really rewarding, but we talk to each other differently,” Brooklyn said of her playing time with her sister. She explains they want to see each other succeed, but they can get on each other’s nerves.
Brooklyn laughs that they often lose their balance on the court. “We’re both known for falling the most,” Brooklyn said.
In BPA, Brooklyn has also enjoyed a good amount of success. Her honors this year have included first place for global marketing team, second place for advanced office systems and sixth place for fundamental accounting. “BPA is really fun,” Nordwick said. “You get to pretend you’re a business person. It’s rewarding for your hard work.”
Her favorite class is a STEM class because of its hands-on activities and variety of projects.
LeeAnn Stangeland is Nordwick’s favorite teacher because she is kind and understanding. “She looks out for you,” Nordwick added.
After high school, Nordwick plans to attend Montana State University and study nursing.
“I’ve always wanted to work in the medical field,” Nordwick said.
