Indians Drop Games Against Malta
Poplar dropped both league basketball contests at Malta on Friday, Feb. 14.
In the boys’ game, Poplar fell by a 63-55 final.
The Indians held a 26-25 half-time lead and a 43-41 advantage at the end of the third quarter.
Malta accounted for 22 points in the fourth period for the victory. Leading the Mustangs were Treyton Wilke with 29 and Bohdi Brenden with 12 points.
In the girls’ contest, Malta posted a 77-45 win.
Ahead by a 12-10 score at the end of the first quarter, Malta increased its lead to 3420 at the half. Malta then outscored the Indians by an 18-13 margin in the third quarter.
Top scorers for Poplar were Cammie Martell and Ashlyn Bull Chief with 12 points each. Also scoring for Poplar were Mattie Ayers with seven, Bailey Dupree with seven, Journey Gourneau with two, Miley Crawford with two and Braelyn Nordwick with one point.
