Mayor Seeks Chamber’s Help To Improve Wolf Point’s Looks

Wolf Point Mayor Chris Dschaak wants to make the community as attractive as possible, and he asked Chamber of Commerce members to assist him with an effort to reach that goal.

At the Wolf Point Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture board meeting last week, Dschaak discussed the need of a committee to be formed that aggressively addresses the challenges of abandoned buildings in the city. Dschaak said the city has acquired eight such structures during the past five years and will likely acquire two more from the county in the near future.

“Neighbors are tired looking at that stuff,” Dschaak said.

The mayor recommended the organization consists of about eight to 10 volunteers from organizations such as the chamber, Elks and Lions. The group should talk to county and city officials about the possibility of obtaining these structures with the hope of improving the areas and then selling the properties. No single person or these organizations will make a profit from the process, and funds can be utilized to fund community projects.

A few Chamber members expressed interest in being part of the proposed organization.

Board members approved Mike Fox to become a new board member.

The chamber will reach out to Jordan World Circus regarding coming back to Wolf Point this year. They will ask the circus to pay a rental fee of $3,000.

The 100th Stampede Committee has decided to use funds for bouncy houses during Stampede.
