Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report
The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 80 calls from Feb. 10-17.
Feb. 10
Deputies assisted Culbertson ambulance and the Richland County Sheriff’s Office on a call regarding finding a deceased person across the Missouri River. A male was found faced down near a fishing hole after apparently shooting himself.
Deputies assisted the Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice with a welfare check at the Homestead Annex in Wolf Point. A relative worried about whether an adult female was safe because of the cold weather. The female was spotted later that day.
Feb. 11
Deputies assisted Bainville ambulance regarding a man who fell, hit his head and couldn’t get up.
Deputies responded to a domestic dispute call in Poplar’s city limits. A woman said she was being harassed by her son. Carter Longtree, 35, was arrested for the tribal charges of partner/family member assault and elder abuse.
Feb. 13
Deputies took a report of tax fraud from a woman. She was provided the phone number to the IRS.
Deputies responded to Poplar tribal housing for a report of a male threatening his mother. FPTDLJ helped locate the male. Brian Mail, 34, was charged with disorderly conduct and endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to tribal jail.
Feb. 14
Deputies responded to Culbertson for a report of a custody interference call. The parties were advised to address the matter in court.
Deputies responded to Brockton at 6:17 p.m. for a report of a welfare check regarding an adult male. Deputies were told that the man took off on foot and was going to hitchhike to Wolf Point. FPTDLJ located the man at a house in Wolf Point at about 9 p.m.
Feb. 15
Deputies received a report that a group outside of Dad’s Bar was possibly using drugs. When deputies arrived, there was only one adult male and he wasn’t doing anything illegal.
FPTDLJ reported to deputies about a reckless driver who was traveling at a high rate of speed in Poplar. The chase of the stolen vehicle included going to Richland County and then McCone County. After the vehicle stopped near County Road 1054, two individuals were transported to the Poplar hospital.
Feb. 16
Deputies went to Brockton as a woman said a vehicle damaged her vehicle while she was playing bingo in Poplar.
