Brockton Student Wins County Bee Title


Eager spellers took part in the Roosevelt County Spelling Bee held in Froid on Thursday, Feb. 27.
Keane DeJano of Brockton came away with top honors from the spelling bee. He advances to the state competition scheduled in Bozeman on Saturday, March 22.
Gabe Uy of Frontier placed second at the county bee. Liberty Boadle of Poplar took third place honors.
Bainville’s Mark Tholborn earned fourth place. Trenton McCarty of Frontier captured fifth place.
Other competitors included Bainville: Carys Holbrook, Tacey Traeger, Logan Telck and Scarlett Mahoney; Brockton: Preston Beston, Aevryn Black Dog, VeNice Santos and Ceaser ShyFace; Culbertson: Jaclynne Taberna, Anna Steppler, Parker Steppler, Flint Solem and Sander Williams; Froid: Bryce Murphy, Alex Spindler, Crew Dethman, Colby Parenteau and Jhett Davidson; Frontier: Westley Rees, Deyson Deserly and Kori Hentges; Poplar: Mila Gramling, Dreyton Red Eagle, Lilah Drum and MyRee Talks Different; Wolf Point: Aurora Big Horn, Caydee Gorder, Alena Bradshaw, Kellen Moran and Zhaiden St. Germaine.
Judges for the county bee were Patrick Kjelshus, LeeAnn Stangeland and Joyce Harvey. Master of ceremonies and recorder was Traci Kjelshus. Heather Mason served as pronouncer.
