Letter to the Editor
This past week, we lost another relative and community member by an act of senseless violence. Many people in our reservation communities have cried out for help to address the sense of lawlessness in our towns. We have cried out for change.
Well, I, believe that now is the time for all of us to take responsibility for such a change. We need to act now before another life is lost, to drugs, by an act of violence and despair!
We are all aware that this now marks the second loss of life to take place at this location in downtown Wolf Point. Let us begin the change by reclaiming the land where these two’s lives were taken.
I’m calling on the mayor of Wolf Point, the Fort Peck Tribal Council, the Wolf Point Community Organization and area businesses to pool their resources to reclaim the land where these two lives were lost. The burnt-out structure needs to come down! We all drive down Main Street every day, faced with the grim reminder of the brutal acts of violence that took place there.
