Senior Profile Elvsaas Enjoys School Life, Being Involved In Froid

Froid High School Addison Elvsaas is proud to be part of the school’s nine-member senior class and feels the bond created at the small school is very special.
The entire class has been together since the third grade. “We’ve been building those true friendships for nine years,” she said. She wonders if having such a connection could be possible at larger schools.
Elvsaas has taken advantage of the many activities at the school including Business Professionals of America, FFA, Explore America, band, choir, basketball, volleyball and golf.
She has qualified for state BPA conference in both presentation individual and administrative resource support production. The state competition is in Billings during March.
“It’s very beneficial in many ways,” Elvsaas said. “You get to talk to people and socialize.”
As far as FFA, her involvement has included floriculture, livestock judging and ag sales. She was part of Froid’s team that placed third at the state competition in floriculture.
Elvsaas has enjoyed success in all three school sports as well as summer softball. The setter was a second team All-Conference volleyball selection as a senior.
Although there were certainly highlights on the volleyball court, she said the growing, close relationships with her teammates were probably the most memory.
The top highlight of the basketball season was beating Plentywood in the semi-final round of the District 2C tournament. The Red Hawks haven’t beat Plentywood for several seasons. “We just thought it was time,” Elvsaas said.
She has qualified for the state golf meet in each of the last two years and is looking forward to the upcoming season. “First of all, we need to get a coach,” Elvsaas said, noting that the position is still open.
Since she doesn’t have the same opportunity of playing on a course as often as golfers from other schools, her main goal is to keep seeing improvement in herself. She has taken about 10 strokes off her scores each year.
Her favorite class this school year was spending a period a time with kindergarten students.
“Watching that group of kids is really cool,” she said. “It was definitely a highlight of my day.”
Her favorite teacher at the school is Duane Larsen. She likes how Larsen greets students with a smile and positive attitude in the hallways. “He brightens the day,” Elvsaas said.
After high school, her plan is to study in the sonography program at Laramie County Community College in Wyoming.
