Orozco Enjoys Positive Relationships Through Sports

Froid High School senior Roberto Orozco appreciated many sports highlights during his high school days, but one special memory stands out.

During the recent boys’ basketball season, Roberto played alongside his brothers, sophomore Eduardo and eighth-grader Aaron.

“Honestly, it was amazing,” Roberto said of the experience. “It was cool.”

He said that others encouraged his parents to take photos of the rare event.

Roberto has been a steady player for the Red Hawks’ football and basketball programs. Highlights included being on the state championship team as a freshman and the state runner-up team as a junior.

His most varsity action, however, came during his senior seasons.

“I had to play almost the whole game every game for football and basketball because we were short on numbers,” he said.

He has also been involved in the school’s Business Professionals of America program. His events include word processing, Excel spreadsheet and office procedures.

“I’ve learned a lot about these programs,” Orozco said.

He said his favorite class is history because he likes to study U.S. history.

His favorite teacher is Kaitlyn Dahlberg. “She’s not super strict, but she gets us to do the work,” Orozco said.

After high school, he plans to study general and business classes at Williston State College. He is unsure of his career path.

He has attended school in Froid since the third grade after transferring from Culbertson.

“I love the people here. It made the move a lot easier,” Orozco said. “I couldn’t ask for a better class.”
