Beston Faces Three Federal Charges

Ryan Buck Beston of the Fort Peck Reservation is facing three charges in U.S. District Court including felony child abuse, assault resulting in serious bodily injury and domestic assault by a habitual offender.

According to the charges filed in the court on Feb. 20, Beston caused bodily injury to Jane Doe 1, a person who at the time of the offense was under 14 years of age and the defendant was 18 years of age or older. The alleged incident took place on or about Oct. 18, 2021, at or near Poplar. If convicted of that charge, Beston faces five years in jail, a $50,000 fine and three years of supervised release.

Count 2 reads that Beston intentionally assaulted Jane Doe 2, resulting in serious bodily injury on July 17, 2024. If convicted of that charge, Beston faces 10 years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.

Count 3 reads that on July 17, 2024, at or near Frazer, Beston intentionally committed a domestic assault against Jane Doe 2, after having a final conviction on at least two separate prior occasions. If convicted of that charge, Beston faces five years of imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release.
