Culbertson, Bainville Athletes Place At Indoor Track Meet

Athletes from Culbertson and Bainville opened their track seasons with an indoor meet in Williston, N.D., on Saturday, March 22.

Culbertson earned first in the boys’ team standings with 82 points and fifth in the girls’ division with 26 points. Bainville was fifth in the boys’ standings with 31 points and sixth in the girls’ standings with 24 points.

Earning firsts for the Cowboys were Aden Drake in the 60-meter hurdles and Brooks Solem in the javelin.

Placing second were Plenny Williams in the javelin, Solem in the triple jump, Harrison Green in the 400 and the 800-meter relay team featuring Green, Ian Snyder, Drake and Williams.

Taking third were Snyder in the 60, Solem in the long jump and the 3200-meter relay of Colin Purvis, Cal Steppler, Arlie Purvis and Drake.

Placing fourth were Steppler in the 1600 and Williams in the shot put. Snyder finished fifth in the 200. Taking sixth were Solem in the shot put and Green in the long jump.

Logan Berwick placed seventh in the shot put, Williams was seventh in the 60, Steppler finished seventh in the 800 and A. Purvis placed seventh in the 1600.

In the girls’ division, Culbertson’s 1600-meter relay team consisting of Rebekah Ellerkamp, Stella Fox, Jade LoneBear and Serenity Wilbanks finished in second place.

Ayden Ator placed third in the javelin. Ellerkamp finished fourth, Fox took fifth and LoneBear was sixth in the 1600.

Bella Petersen placed fifth in the long jump. Emma Berwick took sixth in the shot put. Also placing sixth were Petersen in the 200 and Ellerkamp in the 400. Wilbanks took seventh in the 800.

Leading Bainville’s boys was the 1600-meter relay team of Keagan Vaira, Rowan Wilson, Austin Eveland and Kaiden Holmes with a firstplace showing. Holmes finished second and Wilson was fourth in the 800.

Wilson took fourth in the 60 and fifth in the shot put. Vaira was sixth in the 200. The 800-meter relay team of Evan Anderson, Austin Eveland, Vaira and Owen Theige took fifth place.

Highlighting Bainville’s girls was Mian Pippenger with a first in the shot put and a second in the javelin.

Casey Myers took fourth and Hannah Tholborn was seventh in the javelin.

The 1600-meter relay team of Pippenger, Myers, Kalli Harmon and Tholborn finished fifth.
