Culbertson Golfers Aim For Strong Spring Season

Culbertson’s golf program enjoys a turnout of 10 players this season.

Golfers for Culbertson include senior Mark Kirkaldie, senior Bridger Salvevold, junior Ian Snyder, junior Will Salvevold, sophomore Glen Sager, freshman Wyatt Martin, freshman Felixe Becker, junior Isabella Apple, junior Josie Simonsen and freshman Kinley Wallace.

Kirkaldie, Salvevold, Snyder, Apple and Simonsen are returning letter winners from last season. “The majority of our team is returning golfers,” Coach Jimie Lou Morris said. “This will really allow to identify strengths and to dial in on their weaknesses.”

Kirkaldie missed qualifying for the state meet by just one stroke last season. This year’s goal is for him to qualify prior to the divisional tournament. “He puts in a lot of time in the off season, golfing all summer long as I am confident his hard work and effort will pay off for him this year as a senior.”

The team will open its season on March 28 in Broadus.

“We have only two new golfers, Felixe and Kinley, as Wyatt golfer for Richey/ Lambert as an eighth grader,” Morris said. “I feel as if we should have a strong boys’ team this year.”

The Cowboys return three of four golfers from last year’s divisional team. “A lot of our boys have put in a tremendous amount of time in the off season and I’m looking forward to seeing how well they’ve improved their game as two of them were brand new golfers last year and represented CHS well,” Morris said. “I hope to have a strong showing from the boys’ team all season long and get some early state qualifiers and represent well at the divisional meet.”

The two girls’ golfers were new last season so they should keep improving their games.
