The Frazer Bearcubs open their track season with one of the highest amount of participants in recent history.

The program features 27 athletes including 14 at the high school level.

“It’s our biggest turnout in many years,” Frazer Coach Myron Jackson said.

Among the top athletes on Frazer’s boys’ team is Gabe Beston, who earned All-State honors at last fall’s Class C state cross country meet. The sophomore will compete in the 1600-meter run and 3200-meter run.

The Bearcubs are also anticipating good seasons from sophomore Chase Jackson in throwing events and junior Cassius Smoker in distance runs.

On the girls’ side, freshman Maci Fourstar-Sibley is anticipated to be a force in the 1600 and 3200.

Baily Beston, a senior, should fare well in throwing events.

“We have good young ones coming up,” Coach Jackson said. “They show a lot of potential. Hopefully, we can get a few more of them to State.”

The Bearcubs will open their season in Glasgow on Saturday, March 29.

“We have a good turnout, and I think it will be a good year,” Coach Jackson said.
