Hamilton Re-elected WPCO’s Chair


Two individuals were willing to serve in the position of chair when the Wolf Point Community Organization held its annual elections on Monday, March 17.
Current chair Holly Hamilton thanked the committee for having the opportunity to be the chair for the last year. “It was fun but challenging,” she said.
Hamilton and vice chair Thomas Bauer were each nominated to serve as the next chair. Hamilton won the election with 25 votes compared to Bauer’s 16 votes.
Hamilton thanked members for their support. “It’s going to be another great year,” she said.
Marie Castro was elected to the position of vice chair. Castro won the election over Don La Roque by a 21-17 margin. Jason Hamilton ran unopposed for the position of secretary/treasurer.
Four individuals were nominated for the sergeant of arms position. Nominated were Katriel Hamilton, LaFaye Lizotte, Curtis Forest and Brooke Lilley. Lizotte was the winner of the election with 14 votes. Forest came in second with 12 votes.
Volunteers were asked to sign up to serve on WPCO’s committees which include activities, youth activities, education, membership, resolution and audit.
Tribal Executive Board member Roxanne Gourneau mentioned how much work that volunteers perform in the community. She recommended that volunteers could be recognition possibly with an appreciation dinner.
