Poplar Opens Tennis Season With Good Numbers

The Poplar Indians are pleased with a turnout of 12 girls for the sport of tennis under new head coach Amanda Simonson.

The Indians ended last season’s campaign with only five players.

“I want them to learn the basics and have fun,” Simonson said of her goals.

Players with varsity experience include Angelina Escarcega, Ruby Blackhorn, Essence Headdress, Payton Greyhawk and Jayda Falcon.

Simonson said she encouraged the girls to set their own individual goals.

“I want them to meet their own goals,” she explained.
