Dethman Gains All-American Honors

Rocky Mountain College’s senior forward Sydney Dethman was named third team All-American, released by the NAIA on Monday.
Dethman, a high school standout for Froid/Lake, made a historical impact in her only season with the Battlin’ Bears. She averaged 16.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, shooting 50.4 percent from the field and starting in all 31 games for Rocky this season.
She led the Frontier Conference in scoring, ranked third in field goal percentage, and ranked in the top 10 in rebounds, blocks, three-point percentage, and free throw percentage, earning Newcomer of the Year and First Team All-Conference honors in the Frontier.
Historically, Dethman’s 503 points this season were the fourth most in program history in a single season. She is the fourth Battlin’ Bear to earn All-American honors since the 2020 season, joining Kloie Thatcher (third team; 2023, honorable mention; 2020, 2022), N’Dea Flye (first team; 2022), and Markaela Francis (first team; 2020). Rocky Women’s Basketball has boasted seven different All-Americans since 2018.
The Battlin’ Bears finished the season with an overall record of 20-11 and a conference record of 11-4. They earned their first outright Frontier Conference title since 198788 and clinched an At-Large bid to the NAIA National Championship Tournament, their eighth trip in program history and the seventh time since 2016-17.
