Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 101 calls from March 24 to March 31.

The calls included the following: March 24

Deputies received a report of disorderly conduct from the grocery store in Froid. An adult female keeps coming in, at least daily, and yells which upsets customers and employees.

March 25

Deputies provided medical assistance to a student at Froid High School.

Deputies responded to the Poplar High School parking lot after a security officer reported that someone was driving recklessly in the parking lot.

March 26

Deputies arrested a female on authority of a bench warrant in the law and justice center. Michelle Steinfeldt, 45, had appeared in Judge Harada’s courtroom prior to the arrest. Bond was set at $5,000.

Deputies responded for a report of a disturbance between neighbors. A male apologized for his behavior and said he will calm down.

March 27

Deputies responded to a report of juveniles fighting in Poplar’s city limits. Two individuals were transported to the hospital for injuries.

Deputies responded to a report of a fight at Tande Grocery in Poplar. A male and female were arguing. Holly Cantrell, 40, was arrested on authority of a tribal warrant.

March 28

Deputies assisted the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. Richland County was in pursuit of an individual driving a motorcycle at a high rate of speed and heading in the direction of Roosevelt County. The driver wasn’t located.

March 29

Deputies assisted the Montana Highway Patrol, Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice, Poplar fire department and Poplar ambulance with a one-vehicle fatality crash east of Poplar. A 17-year-old Poplar male died on the scene.

March 30

Deputies assisted FPTDLJ in Poplar for a one-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 2. There were no injuries. The Montana Highway Patrol took the lead in the investigation.

Deputies assisted the Wolf Point Volunteer Fire Department and FPTDLJ at a fire scene to an abandoned house on U.S. Highway 2.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s report activity statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, 12; Wolf Point rural, 12; Wolf Point, FPHA areas, one; Poplar city limits, 26; Poplar rural, eight; Poplar FPHA airport addition, three; Poplar FPHA all other, five; Culbertson town, 10; Culbertson rural, nine; Bainville town, three; Bainville rural, 17; Froid Town, two; Richland County, one; Brockton town, two; Fort Kipp, nine; total, 124.
