Area Basketball Fans Were Treated To Highlights
The 2024-2025 basketball season featured many thrills and memorable moments in Roosevelt County and the surrounding area.
One of the accomplishments was the Lustre Lions qualifying for the Class C state tournament. Advancing all the way to the state tournament for the third straight year is pretty remarkable and should be saluted.
On the far eastern end of the county, the Bainville Bulldogs accounted for an outstanding girls’ basketball season. The Bulldogs marched through the regular season undefeated and then came just a game away from qualifying for the state tournament. Bainville’s girls established many firsts for the school and should be proud of their achievements in both basketball and volleyball this school year.
A story of a strong finish came from the Froid/Lake Red Hawks’ girls’ basketball squad. After placing only sixth during the regular season, the Red Hawks won the second-place trophy at the District 2C tournament. The squad then pushed Circle to the limit in the first round of the Eastern C divisional tourney.
Wolf Point’s boys’ basketball program also made many steps in the right direction during their campaign.
Victories over Poplar and Harlem highlighted the year. With the return of all but one player next season, the Wolves should be a contender in the District 2B standings next year.
A young group of girls should spark Wolf Point’s girls’ basketball program next season. The Lady Wolves showed signs of being a force in the future at times this past season.
Culbertson’s boys made a return trip to the divisional tournament and were near the top of the District 2C standings all season long.
Hats should also go off for the strides that young Frazer, Brockton (girls and boys) and Lustre Christian girls’ teams made this season. Despite a low turnout, Froid/Lake’s boys’ basketball kept heading toward the right path. We should have plenty of great action to watch for the next couple of years.
