Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Report

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office responded to 96 calls from March 31 to April 7.

The calls included the following: April 1

Deputies responded at 3:07 p.m. to the Val-Am store in Culbertson after a vehicle ran into the east end of the store. The driver provided his license and insurance, and the driver was sober. No one was injured. The Montana Highway Patrol assisted with the call.

Deputies served a bench warrant from Judge Harada’s court on Cody Sietsema, 40, of Wolf Point.

Deputies responded to Wolf Point’s west end housing area regarding a report of a group of people arguing. No arrests were made.

April 2

Deputies received a report in Culbertson of a lost wallet. Deputies used store’s cameras to help return the wallet to its owner.

Deputies responded to the front of the Roosevelt County Courthouse where two people were verbally arguing. The couple told deputies they would work things out.

Deputies received a report in Poplar for theft of utilities. One neighbor was possibly stealing electricity from another neighbor. Deputies received a report that a male was trying to fight outside of Tande Grocery in Poplar. A suspect couldn’t be located.

A traffic stop was made near Bainville when a vehicle crossed the center line. The female passenger had warrants for bail jumping, disorderly conduct and possession of meth. Megan Esposito, 29, of Chippewa Falls, Wis., was taken to the Roosevelt County jail.

April 3

Deputies responded to the Corner Bar in Poplar for a report of a male being too intoxicated. Duane Mann, 59, of Brockton was arrested.

Deputies responded to the B& S Quick Stop in Brockton for a report of an intoxicated adult female who was threatening customers. Deputies and Fort Peck Tribes Department of Law and Justice couldn’t locate the suspect.

Deputies assisted Bainville ambulance and Bainville fire department regarding a one-vehicle rollover on Highway 327. Both the driver and passenger were able to walk on their own after the crash. The male driver was taken to the Culbertson hospital.

April 4

Deputy/coroner went to Poplar Hospital’s emergency room for an attended death.

April 5

Deputies served warrants in Culbertson to Daniel Steudle, 59, and Brian Gustafson, 66, and took them to the Roosevelt County jail.

The Roosevelt County Sheriff’s report activity statistics for the past week were: Wolf Point city limits, 11; Wolf Point rural, seven; Wolf Point, FPHA areas, eight; Poplar city limits, 17; Poplar rural, three; Poplar FPHA all other, three; Culbertson town, 12; Culbertson rural, five; Bainville town, three; Bainville rural, 11; Froid rural, two; Brockton town, two; Fort Kipp, seven; total, 96.
