Roosevelt County commissioners heard from representatives of Great Northern Development Corp., during their regular meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Tori Matejovsky, executive director, and Brianna Vine, housing specialist, discussed potential new programs to help small business owners and new home buyers. At a later date, the county will have to approve the programs in order for them to become available.

Hearings in district court on Wednesday, Feb. 15, included five defendants who made changes of plea. Otis Sherman Johnson changed his plea to guilty for criminal possession of dangerous drugs (fentanyl) with intent to distribute and criminal possession of dangerous drugs (meth) with intent to distribute on Nov. 1, 2022. Maximum penalties for each charge is 20 years in prison, a $50,000 fine

The James E. Shanley Tribal Library in Poplar is hosting a cookbook club on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 6 p.m. The selected book for February is New Native Kitchen by Chefs Freddie Bitsoie and James O.
