Escarcega To Continue Wrestling Career In Jamestown


Poplar High School senior Navarjo Escarcega is excited that he will be continuing his wrestling career after his high school days. Escarcega signed his letter of intent on Wednesday, Nov. 13, to wrestle at the University of Jamestown in North Dakota. “I felt like it was the right fit for me,” Escarcega said. “It’s a great coach, a great facility.” He is undecided on his major.

Wolf Point natives Peyton Summers and Sierra Summers each earned All-America status at the NJCAA Division II national cross country meet held in Richmond, Va., on Saturday, Nov. 9. Indians Edge Wolves At Tourney


The Poplar Indians opened the District 2B volleyball tournament by downing Wolf Point, 25-12, 25-19, 20-25, 25-18, in Malta on Thursday, Oct. 31. The Indians jumped out to an 11-1 lead in the opening set with the serving of Rebecca Gorder and net play of Lilliana O’Neal highlighting action. Poplar Drops Matches On Friday


Poplar’s volleyball team lost matches against Fairview and Harlem during the District 2B tournament in Malta on Friday, Nov. 1. Fairview defeated the Indians by a 25-7, 25-21, 25-11, final. Quintana Young led Poplar with four aces and five kills in the match. Rebecca Gorder finished with 16 assists. Angelina Escarcega accounted for 36 digs. Makenzie Crawford had three blocks.

The volleyball season for Lustre Christian ended with a 22-25, 13-25, 13-25, loss against Richey/Lambert on Friday, Nov. 1.
