Poplar’s girls’ basketball team put together a strong second-half effort to beat Harlem, 55-40, in Poplar on Friday, Jan. 23. The Indians led by only a 30-28 half-time margin, but a basket by Braelyn Nordwick off a pass from Cammie Martell helped Poplar increase the gap to 37-32 during the third quarter. A hoop by Blake Follette put the Indians ahead 43-33 at the end of the period.

The Frazer Bearcubs posted home basketball victories over Dodson on Saturday, Jan. 24. In the girls’ game, Frazer won by a 61-48 final. Trailing 24-20 at the half, the Bearcubs scored 19 points in the third quarter for a 3928 lead. Frazer then added 22 more points in the fourth period. Brockton’s boys’ basketball team enjoyed strong second and third quarters to down Savage, 58-43, on Thursday, Jan. 22. Brockton trailed by a 12-4 margin at the end of the first quarter, but Brockton struck for 19 points in the second period for a 23-21 lead. Lustre’s boys’ basketball team jumped out to a big lead in the first quarter and downed Nashua, 69-30, on Friday, Jan. 23. The Lions gained a 26-4 command in the opening quarter. Lustre went on to take a 47-16 half-time lead. The Lions held a 66-23 advantage after three quarters of play. Leading Lustre’s attack were Joel Reddig with 18 and Cam Reddig with 15 points.
