Wolf Point and Poplar wrestlers each enjoyed success during the season-opening Eagle Invitational held in Sidney on Friday, Dec. 5, and Saturday, Dec. 6. In the girls’ division, Wolf Point placed 10th with 69 points and Poplar took 11th place with 57 points. The Wolf Point girls’ basketball team put up a good fight but dropped its season opening against Hays/Lodge Pole by a 52-47 final in Great Falls on Friday, Dec. 5. The Wolves trailed by a 14-12 margin at the end of the first quarter, but Wolf Point gained a 24-21 advantage at the half. Ma’Kenzie Jackson scored four points and Jori Lynn Blackeagle hit a three-pointer during the second quarter.

Frazer’s girls’ basketball squad opened its season with a 53-32 victory over Two Eagle River on Friday, Dec. 5. The Bearcubs jumped out to a 15-8 lead in the first quarter and increased the gap to 22-12 at the half. Frazer then struck for 18 points in the third quarter for a 40-25 margin. Selections have been made for the East division in sixman football. Voted to the squad from Bainville were senior Rowan Wilson and sophomore Parker Berwick. They were also each selected All-State.
