Scobey leads the District 1C volleyball standings with a 10-0 record heading into this week. North Country stands second with an 8-1 mark. Tied for third with 7-2 records are Bainville and Plentywood. Froid/Lake is currently in fifth place with a 7-3 mark. Culbertson is sixth at 5-3. Poplar’s volleyball team started strong but lost to Glasgow at home on Friday, Oct. 18. Glasgow won the conference match by a 23-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-13, final margin. Braelyn Nordwick led the Indians with four aces and 16 kills. Rebecca Gorder finished with 20 assists. Angelina Escarcega accounted for 32 digs. Lilliana O’Neal had four blocks.

The Wolves took momentum back with a 70-yard drive. K. Reed scored on a 26yard run to close the margin to 19-12 at the half. Conrad drove inside Wolf Point territory to open the third quarter, but strong defensive plays by Mike Bell, Zandon Calder and Sam Boysun ended the threat. Poplar lost in conference football action by a 58-26 final in Ekalaka on Friday, Oct. 11. The Indians enjoyed a great start when Kaniel Ricker broke loose for a 49-yard touchdown run on Poplar’s first play from scrimmage. Ekalaka gained a 32-6 advantage at the end of the opening quarter. The Bainville Bulldogs handed Lustre Christian a 2513, 25-14, 25-14, home volleyball defeat on Friday, Oct. 11. The Lions cut the margin to 10-5 on a kill by Hannah Brown in the first set, but Bainville gained a 15-5 lead on the net play of Lila Butikofer, Hailey Berwick and Miah Pippenger. The Poplar Indians took a strong Malta volleyball squad to five sets before losing the home conference match on Friday, Oct. 11. Malta came away with a 19-25, 25-9, 20-25, 25-22, 15-12 victory. Braelyn Nordwick led Poplar’s attack with 17 kills and five blocks. Angelina Escarcega accounted for 36 digs. Rebecca Gorder finished with 29 assists. Lilliana O’Neal served three aces.
