The Culbertson/Bainville girls’ cross country squad placed sixth in the team standings during the Glasgow Invitational held at Fort Peck on Saturday, Sept. 17. Culbertson/Bainville finished with 143 points. The top three teams were Miles City with 55, Glasgow with 65 and Havre with 72. Froid/Lake knocked off Frazer, 25-6, 25-15, 25-10, in conference volleyball play in Frazer on Friday, Sept. 16. Three powerful serves by Carolyne Christoffersen put the Red Hawks up 10-3 in the first set. The Bainville Bulldogs put up a good fight before dropping their match in Scobey on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Scobey came away with a 20-25, 25-11, 25-23, 25-20, victory over the Bulldogs. “It was a fun match,” Bainville Coach Kallie Clarke said. Hailey Berwick led the Bulldogs with nine kills and four aces. Bainville’s girls earned a three-set victory in Nashua on Thursday, Sept. 15. The Bulldogs scored a 2512, 25-21, 25-15, league win. “We did play pretty well,” Bainville Coach Kallie Clarke said. “Everyone got in, so that was good.” Miah Pippenger led Bainville’s attack with eight kills. Culbertson’s defense turned in a dominating performance in stopping Ekalaka, 62-6, in home Class C football action on Saturday, Sept. 10. The Cowboys’ defense took charge from the start when solid plays by Colin Avance, Reese Moon and Kobe Nickoloff stopped the Bulldogs on their first possession. Taking over on the Ekalaka 33, Culbertson scored on its second play on a 26-yard run by Nickoloff.
