Hunters in Montana, along with Fish, Wildlife and Parks, are concerned about declining mule deer populations in much of the state. In response to this concern, FWP is embarking on research efforts to look into the declines and engage hunters about their attitudes on mule deer management and hunting.

Track teams from Bainville and Culbertson were among the competitors at the Scobey Invitational held in Wolf Point on Saturday, April 15.
Bainville’s boys took seventh in the team standings with 28 points. Bainville’s girls placed seventh with 22.5 points.
Top boys’ squads were Lustre Christian with 108 points, Plentywood with 95.5 points and Wolf Point with 83 points.

Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is seeking public comment on several proposals slated to go to the Fish and Wildlife Commission in June.
Comment is open through May 11. After public comment, commissioners can offer amendments to the proposals as they see fit.

Charles Butikofer was one of the athletes who enjoyed a solid day for the Bulldogs. The junior cleared 6-0 for fourth place in the high jump. The height qualifies him for the state meet. He earned sixth place in the javelin with a mark of 138-8.

The goal of FWP’s Future Fisheries Program is to restore rivers, streams and lakes to improve Montana’s wild fish habitat. Entities can receive funding for qualifying projects that benefit Montana’s wild fish.

Hunters who are applying for special licenses and permits need to have a valid email address. Hunters can apply for permits on the FWP website. If hunters want to apply in person, FWP offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
