The Bainville Bulldogs enjoyed a strong second quarter and defeated Culbertson, 53-39, for a road conference win on Saturday, Feb. 12. After trailing 11-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Bulldogs outscored Culbertson 15-4 in the second period for a 23-15 half-time lead. Bainville held a 35-27 advantage after three quarters of play. Ayden Knudsen finished with 21 points to lead Bainville.

The Culbertson Cowboys lost a heart-breaker in the first round of the District 2C basketball tournament when MonDak’s Erik Field hit a 30-footer at the buzzer to give the Thunder a 47-44 victory on Monday, Feb. 14. Culbertson trailed by a 34-29 margin entering the final period, but the Cowboys put together a great comeback during the last minute of action. A free throw by Maurice Bighorn

The Bainville Bulldogs pulled away in the fourth quarter to score a 72-66 road victory over the Richey/Lambert Fusion on Friday, Feb. 4. The league contest was deadlocked, 33-33, at the half. Richey/Lambert held a 52-51 advantage after three quarters of action. Bainville then struck for 21 points in the fourth period to earn the victory. Jesse Strickland led the Bulldogs with 32 points.

The Culbertson Cowgirls dominated the second half and defeated the Richey/ Lambert Fusion, 62-32, on Saturday, Feb. 5. Culbertson held a slim 29-26 half-time margin, but the Cowgirls ran off 13 points in the third quarter for a 42-28 lead. The Cowgirls then outscored Richey/Lambert by a 20-4 margin in the final period. Megan Granbois finished with 24 points to lead Culbertson’s attack.
