A congressional hearing to discuss Amtrak’s reduction of services has been postponed to at least Monday, Oct. 19, according to the office of U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont. Roy Loewenstein, press secretary for Tester, said the hearing was moved because of the decision to recess the Senate because of COVID concerns. He noted that Tester hopes to reschedule the hearing as soon as safely possible.

A safety measure at a railroad crossing moved forward when Roosevelt County commissioners approved an agreement with BNSF during a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Another positive step for Ike’s Fishing Pond and Walking Trail in Culbertson took place last week when First Community Bank donated $5,000 to the project. Kenneth Forbregd, volunteer project manager, estimates about $90,000 has been raised including a $58,000 grant from the Montana Department of Tourism and a $12,000 grant from the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. He noted that the
