In an apparent resolution to an ongoing dispute, District Court Judge David Cybulski ruled on cross motions for summary judgment Feb. 18, that the Town of Culbertson and Thomas Mann Post 81 of the American Legion may now resume administering easement-based access to the 40-acre Legion Park near the Missouri River. The Froid/Lake Red Hawks won their first District 2C boys’ basketball tournament championship since 2006 when they defeated MonDak, 62-27, in Sidney on Saturday, Feb. 20. “It’s huge,” Froid/Lake Coach Josh Stentoft said about winning the district title. The Froid/Lake girls’ basketball team couldn’t get its offense going as the Red Hawks fell to Plentywood, 42-24, in the District 2C tournament’s championship game on Friday, Feb. 19. The Red Hawks trailed by an 8-2 margin early, but Mara Salvevold scored off an assist from Dasani Nesbit late in the opening quarter. A basket by Ashtyn Curtiss put Plentywood ahead 10-4 to end the quarter.
