A process has been determined to break a possible tie in the Roosevelt County commissioners’ election. The commissioners will hold a meeting on Monday, June 20, to canvass the votes. By Bill Vander Weele Roosevelt County residents voted in favor of establishing local option excise taxes for both medical and non-medical marijuana during the primary election on Tuesday, June 7. Adding a 3 percent special local option tax on non-medical marijuana sold in the county passed by a margin of 1,161 to 363. The option tax for medical marijuana was approved by a 941 to 579 margin.

Roosevelt County currently has seven active COVID cases. There have been 3,306 total cases in the county. Adult COVID vaccination clinics are scheduled from 3-5 p.m. on June 16 in Wolf Point and June 23 in Culbertson. County health officials encourage all residents aged 5 and up to be vaccinated and those over 16 should consider getting booster doses. Immunizations are by appointment only.
