Steppler Repeats As Culbertson’s Spelling Champ
Anna Steppler repeated as the spelling bee champion at Culbertson during the competition, which featured 20 contestants, on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
It was the third year in a row that Steppler won Culbertson’s bee. The final word that she spelled in the contest was poppets.
She studied for the test at home. It probably helped that her brother Parker, a fourth-grade student, was also part of
FFA Teams Fare Well At Competitions
Students from Froid, Culbertson and Bainville earned honors during FFA competitions in Medicine Lake on Monday, Jan. 23.
The Froid FFA team earned second place in agronomy during the event.
Froid’s Kaylee Olson captured first place in the individual rankings for agronomy that featured 43 students. Addie Elvsaas took 10th, Makaylee Elvsaas was 25th and Carolyn Christoffersen placed 29th.
Justice Likes Learning In Area
Culbertson High School senior Ethan Justice enjoys spending time with his friends and also likes different hobbies. When asked about his favorite hobbies, Justice said hanging out with friends and playing a variety of video games.
Justice, who used to play baseball, also likes to work on vehicles. So far, he has performed mainly cosmetic work on vehicles.

Green Wins First At State, Wins Mark High Point For Speech, Drama
The Culbertson High School Speech and Drama team ended their year with a strong showing at the state competition in Manhattan this weekend. Several CHS students made the final round of competition. Ultimately, Trevor Green prevailed as the state’s top competitor in Informative with his first-place win.
Coach Jeri Gustafson said the win was bittersweet due to the loss of seniors on the team.
Richland Credit Union Welcomes New CEO
Richland Federal Credit Union has a new Chief Executive Officer, Korey Hagan, effective Jan. 23.
Hagan is from the area and grew up on a family ranch near Plentywood. He earned a masters in business administration from St. Thomas University and a bachelor of science degree in agricultural business management with an economics minor from Montana State University.
