Several watercraft inspection stations begin operation in early March to check snowbird boat traffic returning from mussel positive areas such as Lake Mead and Havasu. Boat owners coming to Montana must have their vessel inspected for aquatic invasive species at a Montana watercraft inspection station prior to launch. Mary Barsness

Mary Barsness


Mary Alice Beaman Barsness, 85, of Wolf Point died Feb. 15, 2022, at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point. She was born in Belcourt, N.D., to Jack and Emma Laverdure Beaman. She joined her oldest sister Jacquelyn at home and soon to join them were her sister Shirley and brother Earl. She attended grade school at Dooley, Belcourt and Plentywood and graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1955. She married Kenneth Edward Barsness on April 25, 1965, and, to this union, they had Michelle Lynn. Michelle was greeted at home by her brothers, Mitchell Barsness and Tyrone Ricker, and her sister, Peggy Lee Barsness. She and Kenneth operated the Hope Ranch in Poplar for a few years where they took care of many children. They loved the children as their own and was an influential part to many of the children lives. They later divorced She worked many jobs, her most memorable ones was a switchboard operator at Columbia Falls, Aberdeen and Wolf Point. She retired after many years of service to NEMHS working in environmental services at the age of 60. Shortly after retiring, she packed up her belongings to stay with her sister, Shirley, on St. Paul Island in the Bering Strait. She returned to Wolf Point after being gone a few years to be closer to her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted Christian who faithfully read her Bible every day. She was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church. One of her cherished memories besides the birth of her grandchildren/ great-grandchildren was being able to visit Israel with her sister Shirley and being baptized in the Jordan River. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an avid reader and had quite the collection of Louis L’Amour books. She enjoyed word search puzzles, listening to Gospel music, putting jigsaw puzzles together, watching her favorite programs and she would never turn down a game of cards. She was forever playing games with her grandchildren or entertaining them some way. On a beautiful, sunny day, you would find her sitting out on the front porch enjoying the rays of sunshine. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jacquelyn Anderson; brother, Earl Beaman; stepson, Mitchell Barsness; and grandson, Jayden Joe. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Lynn of Wolf Point; son, Tyrone Ricker of Poplarl stepdaughter, Peggy Lee Miller of Enumclaw, Wash., whom she raised as her own; “adopted” daughter, Ashley Camenzind of Malta; sister, Shirley Meyer of Yuma, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A celebration of life was held Feb. 25, at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Cremation has taken place. Her ashes will be buried with her grandson in Wolf Point and with her parents in Columbia Falls upon her wishes at a later time. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.

Vanessa “Nessa” Mae Clancy, 45, of Great Falls, formerly of Wolf Point, died Feb. 13, 2022, in Great Falls. She was born Dec. 25, 1976, to Marilyn Noreen Clancy and Allen Dale Longtree in Glasgow. She was raised by her second mom, Donna Hopkins-Blackeagle, on the family farm north of Nashua. She attended schools in Nashua and she enjoyed staying active. She played numerous sports from basketball, cheerleading and track and field. She had her first daughter, Brianna Fola, on May 27, 1995, with Myron Jackson in Glasgow. She attended Miles Community College and earned her associate of science in nursing degree. She later met Robert White in 1997 in Glasgow. Together, they had their second daughter, Juslene Skye, on May 18, 1999, in Great Falls. She and Robert married on March 18, 2003. She worked at Valley View Home while living in Glasgow. She was very proud of being a nurse and was very passionate about what she did. The family moved to Wolf Point in 2004. They had their third child, Makia Joy, on Oct. 27, 2005, in Sidney. The following year they had their fourth and last baby, Jakobe Glen, in Wolf Point on Dec. 21, 2006. She worked in the emergency department at Northeast Montana Health Services in Poplar. She also worked at Faith Lutheran Home for a little while. The family moved to Great Falls at the end of 2012. She held numerous jobs here and there. She was a kind hearted, loving, caring person. She loved to sing, regardless if she knew the words or not. She was a dedicated, die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Michael Jordan. She also loved to play basketball, ice fish, watch sports, go swimming and just spend time with her family. She is survived by children, Brianna, Juslene, Makia and Jakobe; three grandchildren; her children’s father, Robert; special companion, Bob Almanza; and sisters, Natasha and Gracie. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lori. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the New Community Hall in Wolf Point. Burial was at Pony Hill Cemetery in Harlem. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.
