Rural Water Systems Team Up To Fill To Ike’s Pond

Project manager Ken Forbregd told the Community News that Dry Prairie Rural Water and the Assiniboine Sioux Rural Water Supply System have been working together to donate the water needed for the initial filling of Ike’s Fishing Pond and Walking Trail in Culbertson.
ASRWSS and DPRW staff began filling the pond Oct. 22. The pond reached the full pool stage on Tuesday, Nov. 3. A total of 4,282,400 gallons were donated.
ASRWSS board member Rick Kirn and DPRW board member Jon Bolstad shared their enthusiasm for the cooperative effort via press release, stating that the project is a good example of how ASRWSS and DPRW can work together to benefit residents across the region.
The pond and hiking path are the result of a multi-year collaboration with the Town of Culbertson, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, the Culbertson Lions Club and community members. The donation based project received a grant from the Montana Department of Commerce and Tourism in 2019. Hurley’s Oilfield Service was selected to build the project.
