The Wolf Point Wolves feature three returning players on their girls’ tennis team this season.

Back for the Wolves are junior Mahala Moran, sophomore Kaleah Miller-Toves and sophomore Kaylee Johnson.

Seniors on the 12-player squad are Laykin Cantrell, Hamyanie Campbell and Claire Kinzie.

Also on the team are sophomore Avalon Christian, sophomore Juellz Bauer, sophomore Sapphire Redfield, freshman Arianna Mee, freshman Jaycen Williams and freshman Victoria Wozniak.

“They are willing to be coached and are good teammates,” Coach Dan Horsmon said.

As far as weaknesses, the coach noted, “We have a lot of new players. We need four courts so we can host real meets and tournaments.”

Horsmon, who is assisted by Nicole Paulson, feels the Wolves are capable of having a strong season.

“If the girls pick up the skills for tennis over the next few weeks, by divisionals we should have a competitive team,” he said.

This year’s divisional tournament is scheduled in Miles City on May 12-14.

“The goal is to always win divisionals and take as many girls to state as possible,” Horsmon said.

The Wolves are scheduled to open their season at home against Poplar and Terry on Friday, April 1.
