Area Runners Open Season At Wolf Point Invitational

The Culbertson/Bainville cross-country program opened its season at the Wolf Point Invitational on Friday, Aug. 30.

Top teams in the girls’ division were Poplar with 21 points, Scobey with 49 and Brockton with 61 points.

Culbertson /Bainville’s sophomore Rebekah Ellerkamp finished in 27th place with a time of 27:57.2.

Jade Lonebear, a junior, placed 33rd at 29:42.9 Poplar’s freshman Journey Gourneau ran the course in 20:56.4 to win top individual honors in the girls’ division.

Topping the boys’ standings were Harlem with 31 points, Poplar with 49 and Scobey with 70 points.

Harlem’s Ethan Walker finished first with a time of 17:06.8.

Leading Culbertson/Bainville was Soren Batt with a time of 23:29.9 for 42nd place.

Gunner Glas ran the course in 25:57.0 for 56th place.

Runners will compete at the Poplar Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7.
