Red Hawks Lose Game At Buzzer

 

Froid/Lake’s girls’ basketball season ended with a heartbreaking 43-42 loss against the Savage Warriors at the divisional tournament on Thursday, March 6.

Savage’s Camry Conradsen connected on a three-point shot from just inside midcourt at the buzzer to give the Warriors the victory.

The Red Hawks trailed for most of the contest including by a 36-29 margin after three quarters of play.

Froid/Lake opened the fourth quarter with a 14-footer by Isabelle Nordwick and a basket off a rebound by Avery Johnson.

After Savage’s KD Lyons scored on a layup, the Red Hawks pulled even at 3838 on a three-pointer by I. Nordwick and a pair of free throws by Brooklyn Nordwick with 2:39 remaining.

The Red Hawks grabbed a 40-38 advantage on a drive by Lilly Johnson with 1:47 left. Froid/Lake held on to the lead until Aspen Peterson hit a short jumper with 35 seconds remaining. After a time-out, the Red Hawks went ahead on a drive by B. Nordwick with three seconds remaining.

Top scorers for the Red Hawks were B. Nordwick with 16 and Salvevold with 10 points. Also scoring were I. Nordwick with five, A. Johnson with five, Keira Stentoft with four and L. Johnson with two.

Salvevold finished with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Leading the Warriors were C. Conradsen with 15 and Peterson with 14 points. C. Conradsen grabbed 10 rebounds and Peterson added nine boards.

The Red Hawks trailed 1911 at the end of the first quarter and by a 28-21 half-time margin.
