School Groups Agree On Contract Language

The Wolf Point Education Association and the Wolf Point School Board reached tentative agreements on several language policies on their contract during negotiations held on Thursday, March 20.

The parties agreed to continue bi-monthly pay periods on the fifth and 20th of each month.

New teachers will be required to participate in two New Teacher Orientation Days.

Wording was approved for the sick leave request bank. Any teacher requesting sick leave must have exhausted all paid sick and discretionary leave. The employee must submit a completed request form to the district superintendent and the WPEA president requesting days needed. Teachers requesting leave will be capped at 38 days in any one school year. Teachers may not request leave until all leave has been expended. Leave is not transferred until leave is needed to make payroll. Donated days will be used according to the day and time given to the person requesting days. The requesting teacher will be notified by school email of days donated to them. The superintendent may consisted unusual or special circumstances in granting exceptions.

Both salary schedules and longevity were tabled until the Montana legislature makes final decisions regarding the STARS act.

The WPEA has proposed a salary schedule that include an 8 percent increase to the base salary for the 2025-2026 school year. The increase would put the base salary at $39,493. The proposal also includes an additional 4 percent increase for 2026-2027 and 4 percent increase for 2027-2028.

Longevity pay proposed will consist of a $2,000 after 10 years of continuous service in the Wolf Point School District, $2,500 after 15 years and $3,000 for 20 years of continuous service.
