County Ranks 38th In State For Unemployment
Roosevelt County ranks 38th in unemployment rate of Montana’s 56 counties, according to February’s unemployment figures.
Roosevelt County has an unemployment rate of 3.8 percent. The county has 107 less individuals employed that a year ago. The five counties with the lowest unemployment rate are Carter at 1.6, Fallon at 1.7, Chouteau at 2, Treasure at 2.2 and Prairie at 2.2.
Daniels County is tied for sixth lowest at 2.3 percent. Richland, Dawson and Toole counties are tied for ninth at 2.4 percent.
Other northeastern Montana counties include McCone at 2.7 percent for 12th, Sheridan at 3 percent for 19th, Valley at 3.4 percent for 31st and Phillips at 4.9 percent for 50th.
As far as reservations, Fort Peck ranks second at 5.7 percent. Flathead ranks first at 5.3 percent. Fort Belknap is seventh at 14.5 percent unemployment.
The state’s unemployment rate was unchanged from the previous month at 3.4 percent.
Montana’s unemployment rate is 1.3 percent lower than the national rate of 4.1 percent.
