Southside Offers Child Find, Pre-k Registration

Southside Elementary School officials urge parents to remember to take part in the “child find” project and the importance of being enrolled in pre-kindergarten.

The child find screenings are scheduled for April 10, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point. Screenings will be conducted in developmental, speech/language, vision, hearing and dental.

Call Southside Elementary School at 406-653-1480 to schedule an appointment.

Southside Principal Tara Thomas said the primary benefit of child find is that it ensures children with disabilities are identified, located and evaluated to allow them to have access of the necessary special education services and support to receive a free and appropriate public education.

“This includes identifying children who may be at risk for developmental delays even at a young age, providing early intervention opportunities,” Thomas said.

Requirements for pre-k include updated immunizations, being 4 years old on or before Sept. 10, a birth certificate and a CIB.

People can register for pre-k anytime.

“Good attendance is crucial for successfully navigating this quality program,” Thomas said.
