Lions Win Game At State Tournament


The Lustre Lions kept their season alive with a strong second half in their 70-55 victory over Bridger in loser-out action at the Class C state tournament in Butte on Friday, March 14.
With the game deadlocked at 26-26, the Lions opened the third quarter with the first eight points on a three-pointer by Cam Reddig, a free throw by Johnslee Pierre, an inside shot by Byron Ewing and a drive by Prestyn Klatt.
The scoring of Gage Goltz and Rex Zenthner pulled the Scouts to 42-38 at the end of the third quarter. Freshman Joel Reddig got hot for the Lions to open the fourth quarter. A three-pointer and jumper by J. Reddig, a drive by Cam Reddig and a pair of free throws by Ewing earned Lustre a 51-40 advantage.
Bridger battled back to 55-50 on consecutive three-pointers, but the Lions responded with a three-pointer by Cam Reddig and an inside shot by Johnslee Pierre for a 60-50 lead. After a three-pointer by Bridger’s Trinden Stromme, the Lions put the contest away on a three-point play by Ewing, two free throws by Pierre and another basket by J. Reddig for a 67-53 advantage.
Pierre led Lustre’s attack with 20 points. J. Reddig and Ewing added 13 points each. Cam Reddig also reached double figures with 10 points.
Rounding out Lustre’s scoring were Clay Reddig with nine, Hadden Olfert with three and Klatt with two.
Top scorers for the Scouts were Zentner with 22, Stromme with 14 and Goltz with 13 points.
The Lions trailed 15-10 at the end of the first quarter. Lustre scored the last five points of the half on a three-pointer by Pierre and a tip-in by Cam Reddig to pull even at 26-26.
