Douglas Houg
Douglas Herbert Houg, 77, died March 21, 2025, in Poplar.
He was born Dec. 23, 1947, to Herbert and Dina Houg in Wolf Point where he grew up and graduated high school.
After high school, he attended Montana State University – Northern. After graduating, he returned to Wolf Point to work on the family farm. He loved being around the animals at the farm where he raised long horn cattle before transitioning to red Angus cattle, having an especially soft spot for the cats which could been seen following him around as he performed chores.
He was known throughout the community to be a very shy, reserved person, but, to those closest to him, he was known as a very kind, caring person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed Royal’s constant pranks, even the ones that left him extremely blushed.
He is survived by his wife, Royal; her children, David Brockmeyer and Chris Brockmeyer; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Loren, Larry, Dale and Bruce.
A celebration of life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Apr. 7 at 1 p.m.
