Bulldogs Look Forward To Keeping Strong Year Going

The Bainville Bulldogs aim to continue their very successful school year in athletics with a good track season this spring. The Bulldogs feature 18 athletes, equally divided between boys and girls.

Bainville’s girls’ squad includes school record holders Elsie Wilson and Hailey Berwick.

Wilson, a senior, is the school record holder in the 100, long jump, triple jump and 300-meter hurdles. She also competes in the 200 for the Bulldogs.

Berwick, a junior, is the record holder in the 400 and is also strong in the 100 and 200.

Bainville should also be strong in throwing events with the return of senior Miah Pippenger, junior Addison Hansen and junior Lila Butikofer. Hansen qualified for state in the shot put and discus last season. Butikofer advanced to the state meet in the discus.

Coach Chance Hyatt also anticipates Hannah Tholborn to have a good season in throwing events and relays.

“I think some of our new athletes will do well. We will have to see,” Hyatt said of Bainville’s program. “I’m excited we have some youth.”

Top returning athletes for the boys are state qualifiers Keagan Vaira in sprints, Kaiden Holmes in the 800, Rowan Wilson in the 800 and 1600 and Gunner Glas in distance runs.

“Everybody else is new for us this year,” Hyatt said. One of the newcomers who might have a solid season is freshman Parker Berwick in a variety of events.

Hyatt says the team’s goals include get everybody to the divisional meet, and earning a trophy at either the district or divisional level. Hyatt feels Plentywood and Culbertson should be the top boys’ teams in the district. The top girls’ squads are expected to include Savage, MonDak and Richey/Lambert. Savage is the defending Class C state champions.
