Walleye Spawning Underway
The Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks Region 6 crew has been hard at work this past week at the walleye spawn on Fort Peck Reservoir. Water temperatures have been increasing to peak temperatures since the cold weather last weekend and there have been quite a few ripe and green walleye still coming through the trap nets. The crew has been able to hold several egg takes and are rapidly approaching their egg collecting goals for the year. Here, Dave Fuller mixes up a batch of walleye eggs and sperm. The spawning effort concluded Tuesday, April 21.
