Poplar’s Samantha Brunelle Earns Athletic Scholarship
Poplar’s Samantha “Sammy” Brunelle, a standout thrower for the Poplar Indians’ track and field team, earned an athletic scholarship to the Minot State University Beavers’ track and field program for throwing events.
Brunelle, a 2020 PHS graduate, said she is excited about her commitment to MSU.
“I will be studying exercise science and rehabilitation to become a physical therapist,” she said.
“I believe Minot will be the best place for my academic and athletic career and I’m so excited,” Brunelle said.
“My goal is to become a doctor so I can come back and help my people on the reservation,” she said.
While at PHS, Brunelle participated in track and field, volleyball, basketball, wrestling and golf at PHS.
Academically, she served as valedictorian for her graduating class, Student Council president, National Honor Society vice president and secretary/treasurer of BPA.
The MSU Beavers are a NCAA Division II program.
